WHAT YOU ATE FOR DINNER ON MARCH 3, 1988: Let's see. I was 12. My grandmother, who cooked a lot for us when I was younger, had died fairly recently. That means my mom cooked. Hm. I'll go with a positive guess and say my favorite dish of curry chicken - it's one of the things she does best.

WHAT YOU ATE FOR DINNER ON MARCH 3, 1988: I actually know this. I was working in the C&O restauarant as a waiter when I was a graduate student at UVa. We tended to eat bits and pieces from the menu sent up by the chef. Typically, this was a bit of pork terrine, some bread and some gherkins and a bit of cheese. We also used to pick from the cheese platter through the night, and this next bit is somewhat excessive, but we would swab up the extra hollandaise or bearnaise with the bread that didn't make it to the floor after service had ended; all washed down at the end of the night after we had cleaned up with a glass or two of house wine !
