She sent me a picture of this cake she and her friends made for Easter featuring Jesus.Kristen writes: “Here is Jesus standing next to his tomb. It looks like one of his arms is buried in the rock, but it’s not…he only has one arm! He’s a one-armed Jesus. He was the last Jesus left in the store and Amy got a discount on him. All right, so it’s not a CAKE, per se . . . it’s cupcakes. Turkey cupcakes, for Thanksgiving (not all of us like pumpkin pie!).The candy corns were a little tough to find after Halloween, but are imperative for both the feathers and beaks. Oh how fitting! I’m getting ready to start working on a cake for my son’s birthday next month! I’m still in the planning phases now.
About ten years ago, I made a cake for a friend who writes for MAD Magazine. I used those little tubes of colored icing that they have in the baking aisle of the supermarket to decorate it with a picture of Alfred E. Neuman. It was a fine likeness indeed, if I do say so myself! I’ll try to dig out a photo.
