The Cat Out of the Bag

I am very bad at keeping secrets—(I just got in trouble for spilling a few over the weekend)—but I can’t contain my excitement over the big, exciting lunch I just had for my book. Promise not to tell anyone? I just had lunch with Ruth Reichl. And that’s all I can say for now :)

  1. Oh my gosh! I am SO jealous! I just got done reading her book, Saphires and Garlic. I also read her first memoir, Tender at the Bone. I thoroughly enjoyed both. I’m sure it was fun. What did SHE eat, and WHERE did you eat, and did you get good service since I’m sure she wasn’t in disguise. How fun.

By the way, I’m halfway done posting my Cookbook Awards meme (copied after your’s) on my website. click on “Cooking and Food” categories. Three more entries to go.

  2. Dinner with Ruth Reichl? I’m kvelling, darling, and I’m not even Jewish (well, except on my husband’s side)! Her books are wonderful, and she’s my principal personal deity, now that Julia has left us. Congratulations.

  3. Oh. My. God. I just about fell out of my chair.

Oh my god. Did I say that? Oh my god! How the heck did you swing that? And WHAT DID YOU EAT?!?!

I just have to say oh my god. As a loyal reader for almost two years, I feel like I’ve been touched by celebrity myself. *sigh*

  4. Wadaya mean, don’t tell anyone? Are you nuts?

    Adam, this is GREAT!!!

Big things are in store for you young man, big things.

  5. Holy cow! I looove her. Was it amazingly fun, or what? I bet you two clicked like mad, you both have such personality…

Congrats, Adam, what a cool thing. And you owe it all to Janet Jackson’s nipple shield.

(and by the way, I was SO sure when you said you were having lunch with a food icon that it was Batali!)

  6. OhMyGod that’s so fabulous!! (okay, pardon the valley girlishness of this comment but OMG how cool is that)

Congratulations and can’t wait to hear about it in your forthcoming book.

  7. Oooooooooohhh… I thought it was Batali too but this just as exciting!! Where did you go?? Can’t you tell us any details?? *Sigh* Congrats though and I really can’t wait for the book to be out.

  8. wow. impressive. and there I was thinking I’d achieved something by shaking hands with a mysterious anonymous SF food critic yesterday!

  9. I know it was a hard decision, but I haven’t felt the same about her (former)company since they left New Orleans. Would’ve loved to hear what she had to say about that…

Really impressed by who you snag for interviews!

  10. Did she disquise herself with the Groucho Marx glasses and nose or a wig and fake oversized teeth?

    Tell us more!
