Workout Journal, Day 6

Today I teetered on the very edge of THE DANGER ZONE. I wasn’t close, I just leaned over and peaked over the railing.

Here’s what I mean: in the afternoon, I considered going home before going to the gym. This is THE DANGER ZONE. In the past, if I go home before going to the gym, I stay home. This was the case in New York when I’d come home after the coffee shop, find myself at my computer doing work, time would slip by and I’d say, “Eh, it’s probably not worth it.”

So today, when I considered going home between writing all those posts on my blog and my newsletter, I knew I was staring into the void. Which is why I drove straight to the gym and worked out.

I did the first circuit my trainer taught me–with lunges, pull-downs and sit-ups on a medicine ball–three times, then I did 20 minutes of interval training on the elliptical. And that same training that knocked me for a loop last week was easy, breezy this week. And fun with my new workout mix. I especially enjoyed swinging my legs to The Neutron Dance.

The moral of the story is: no going home before going to the gym. Going home is (cue music) a highway to…THE DANGER ZONE.
