Workout Journal, Day 5

November 4, 2011 | By | COMMENTS

That’s it! One week completed. And, I don’t want to jinx it, but it was a good week. I enjoyed going to the gym, I had good workouts each day, I ate moderately well and–most importantly–I felt really good afterwards.

Today I met with Danny, my trainer who laid out the plan that I followed this week. What I like about him is that he has a realistic approach to things. He doesn’t want me to overdo it, to cut too much out of my diet; it’s all about adapting to this routine gradually.

He taught me a new circuit today involving push-ups, sit-ups, and a complex routine with barbells. Then I went on the elliptical and it was REALLY weird because the routine that almost knocked me out on Monday and Wednesday didn’t knock me out today. I want to say it’s because I’m in so much better shape today than I was 2 days ago but maybe the machine I was on was a little wonky?

Now that it’s the weekend, I can return to my hedonistic ways with some moderation. Then on Monday it’s back to the gym.

In the meantime, I’ve asked people on Twitter: what’s your favorite workout song? I’m going to make a Spotify playlist to listen to next time. Today I really dug swinging my legs to “Cowtown” by They Might Be Giants. It’s not a traditional work-out song, but it works. (So does “Mr. Me.”)
