The Scavenger Hunt Winners at Tom Colicchio's "Toast to the Children"
At last, the winners of The Great New York Foodie Photo Scavenger Hunt--Rachel Wilke, our first place winner (seen on the right w/her photographer co-scavenger hunter, Mike Piaker) and Stephanie Krasinski, our second place winner (seen on the left with her photographer co-scavenger hunter Andrew Teichman)--were able to cash in on their prize, joining me at the Mandarin Oriental hotel for Tom Colicchio's "Toast To The Children" charity event....
Taste of New York 2008
After attending last night's Taste of New York event, I can say, with great certainty, that this year is the year of the octopus. I lost my little pamphlet that tells you who was serving what, but off the top off my head I can tell you that Craft, Dell'anima, and Insieme were all serving the eight-legged beast and each version had something to recommend it....
Taste of New York TONIGHT
You know how for the past two years I've attended that New York Magazine Taste of New York event and you got really jealous when you read the posts here and here? Well there are still tickets to TONIGHT's event so click here, sign up, and go. If you're there, look for me and say hello--I'll be wherever the dessert is. I love dessert....

I'll be MC-ing a fundraiser this Thursday, June 5th, at Joe: The Art of Coffee on 13th Street at 8 PM. I'll be signing books today (Tuesday, 12/11) at the Best Cellars store on the Upper East Side (1291 Lexington Ave. at 87th Street) from 5 - 7 PM and then on Friday at the Upper West Side store (2246 Broadway between 80th & 81st) at the same time. There'll be wine, food, and me--so come say hi! An autographed book makes a great holiday present....
Thanks To My Florida Fans
A huge thanks to everyone who showed up to my Boca book signing on Sunday. It was a treat to see my whole family there, all our family friends, and--to my delight--a few Florida readers who came out just from the tiny post I did right before the event. It was great to meet you all!...
Taste of New York
I don't know about you, but I think New York Magazine gave me free passes to its Taste of New York event because of my photography skills. I mean with a picture like this, what else could it be? Ok, that's a pretty bad picture but, in its own particular way it gives you a sense of the room: chefs, foodies, lights, cameras, suits, dresses, hair, tablecloths. Ilan Hall from Top Chef was there, as were all the bloggers--Eater, Grub Street, NYC Nosh--plus other journalists, media types, and, of course, New York's favorite chefs. But there was one person there who was happier than anyone else--a certain someone who, after going last year--begged me to take him again.......
