Can You Spell Knaidel?

    How can there be “a” correct spelling of a transliterated word? Personally, I’d have gone with “kneidl”. And, besides, who eats just one? I’ve never not heard the plural “kneidlach.”

    I’m with Mattie. From Yiddish I would have guessed kneidel. Spellcheck even did this for me.

    knaidel isn’t nearly as difficult to spell as past final words because phonetically its sounds just as it is spelled

    It’s weird that it is said to be German (at least origin), because it’s very different form the actual German word for dumpling, which is Knödel. I’m pretty sure that none of us would associate “knaidel” with Knödel..
