On Searching
May 8, 2005 | By Adam Roberts | 4 CommentsI’ve heard from many a kind-hearted reader that they’d like me to add a search feature to my site. I went to Google and attempted to add a site-specific engine but my site isn’t in the Google index. So I just registered to be in the Google index, but that could take a while. In the meantime, what I do is I just go to Google and type in “Amateur Gourmet X.” X = whatever it is you’re looking for. So if you type in “Amateur Gourmet Peas” you get my post about Pasta, Pesto and Peas. It’s an excellent method and should keep you busy until I can actually add a real engine. Enjoy!

wow!!!! thats a very unique colour -at least to me-…lol
keep up the good work…
Your site’s in the Google index, they were just lying to you. I do searches like “lolita site:amateurgourmet.com” all the time and they work fine. You could just add a google search box that adds the site:amateurgourmet.com automatically and you wouldn’t have to to worry about waiting for them. Or anyone.
I don’t know if you’ve looked at it, but technorati has a searchlet which will search your blog or the web. I believe it searches the tags on your post, so it may not be great for back searching, but as a tool for the future, it may be something you’d like to consider…
It may be useful for your readers to know that if you have the goggle toolbar installed they can type their query in the box and choose the search site option.
